Hanover Raceway hosted its final night-time card of racing for the 2010 season Saturday, and for the fourth Saturday in a row, fans sat through a drizzly rain

in order to watch the races.

It was Advantage Hanover Travel night, which meant one lucky fan was going to win a $3,000 all-inclusive Caribbean Vacation courtesy of Advantage Hanover Travel.
This year’s winner is Karen Levette of Port Elgin, ON.

Despite the drizzle the track was fast, and Hanover paid tribute to one of its horsemen with the Randy McTavish Pace in Race 7, won by Sauble Jackson and driver Terry Fritz in 1:58.3. McTavish passed away at age 50 after battling cancer. The Moorefield, ON horseman was an owner and breeder while both his father and brother were past Hanover Raceway drivers.

The memorial race came one day after Hanover Raceway played host to the fifth annual Relay For Life 12-hour cancer walk. This year’s event included 41 teams of 10, who raised almost $90,000 for cancer research.

Hanover Raceway now moves to 1:30 p.m. post times on its final two cards of racing on Saturday October 2 and Saturday, October 9. This Saturday, October 2, Hanover will feature a Roast Beef Lunch buffet for $10.95, and a Prime Rib dinner special.
Hanover will also feature a two-for-one ice cream special as the track winds down its 2010 live harness racing season.
