ATSS Colts At Northside

Atlantic Sires Stakes rolled into Northside Downs for the Saturday matinee program and two-year-old pacing colts were featured in a pair of $9,720 'A' divisions

Goin Large front-stepped his way to a 2:00.2 score in the first of the division for trainer/driver Darren Crowe and the Kickin Horse Stable of Stratford,P.E.I. The Benvolio Hanover-Roza Robota colt, who left from Post 1 and carved out fractions of :29, 1:00.3 and 1:30.3, turned back a challenge from favourite Ringmaster (Danny Romo) at the midway point and held off the iron tough colt in the stretch for the quarter-length victory. Longshot Full Of Finesse (Bernard McCallum) finished third.

With the win, Going Large improved his record to 2-1-2 in nine outings. The bay colt has banked $12,826 thus far in 2009. The victory was his first in six ATSS events.

In the next division, fan favourite Allbentouttashape and trainer/driver Sean Dooley fired off the gate from Post 3 and maintained a secure lead on the field as he chopped out panels of :29.2, 1:00.3 and 1:29.4. The pocket-sitting Moneyhaha (Red mond Doucet) applied pressure in the stretch, but it wasn’t enough to catch Allbentouttashape as he dug in for the two and a quarter length victory in 1:59.1. T M Top Gun (Darren Crowe) was third.

The Quick Comeback-C A Lady gelding sports reading reading 9-3-0 in 12 starts with $38,269 earned for the Dooley Boys Racing Stable of Halifax, N.S. He is six-for-seven in ATSS action.
