This past Saturday (September 23), Southwind Woody won the $35,000 Charles Smith for three-year-old colt and gelding trotters at Freehold Raceway.
Driver George Brennan and Southwind Woody, by Muscle Hill, cut the fractions (:28.2, :58.1, 1:26.2) and completed the gate-to-wire mile in 1:55.2, which was a new track and stakes record for the division.
Bred by Southwind Farms, Southwind Woody surpassed the $100,000 mark in lifetime earnings with the win.
Andy Miller and Fly On finished second while Southwind Hydro and Marcus Johansson crossed the wire third.
The next card of live action at Freehold Raceway will take place this coming Thursday (September 28). The first race will head behind the gate at 12:30 p.m.
