Hanover Sees Rise In Handle

Officials with Hanover Raceway have stated that the track has seen a 10 per cent increase in handle and concessions compared to 2014 as it heads into its final program of the season this Saturday (September 26).

Hanover will announce its season-ending awards winners on Saturday. Fans in attendance will also be able to witness the final battles for the track’s Driver of the Year honours between Bradley Harris and Bruce Richardson.

There will be two blanket presentations on behalf of a former horseman and a top local horse from the Goderich area. Hanover will draw its two winners in the ‘Best Seats in the House’ contest, and someone will go home with a 50-inch High Def TV, courtesy of HDTV in Walkerton and Hanover.

The track’s general manager, Gord Dougan, has explained that the TV draw from all the ballots collected over the summer will be made before Race 9. There will also be extra prize draws, 2-for-1 ice cream, and the raceway will once again thank its horsepeople with a special treat in the backstretch.

Dougan said that the 2015 season at the track was a good year overall, and that Hanover was up 10 per cent in both wagering and concessions compared with 2014.

The GM also stated that the fact that the track reduced its live race dates from 32 to 16 in 2015 was a big change, but he felt the crowds were strong.

First-race post time for Saturday night is 7:15pm
