Actions By Chip Wins Labatts Series Final

Entrymates Actions By Chip and Abs Begonia used off the pace tactics to finish 1-2 over pacesetter K D Dream Friday at Georgian Downs in the $29,400 Labatts Claiming Series final

for trotters who are non-winners of $30,000 lifetime as of August 15, 2009.

K D Dream (Yvan Leonard) toured the Innisful oval while posting fractions of :28.3, :59.3 and 1:29.3 along the way. Meanwhile, driver Steve Skilton and second leg winner Actions By Chip picked up cover from his other entrymate Keystone Tristan (David Dowling) through the middle splits, but was still caught back in fifth heading into the stretch. Finding room to rally, the sophomore son of Chip Chip Hooray-Soothing Action sweep past the field for the 2:01.1 victory by a length and three-quarters.

Abs Begonia closed from sixth to finish second with K D Dream finishing third. Favourite Pinacle Of Success (Dan Clements), who was looking for a series sweep, was set back early after making a costly break, as was first leg winner Duke Of Wellington (Simon Allard).

Actions By Chip is trained by Mike Lamoureux for owner Philip Newfeld of Toronto, Ont. Unraced at two, the bay gelding improved his record to 4-3-3 in 22 starts lifting his earnings to $25,753.
