Thursday evening racing returns to Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park on Sept. 25 with a 13-dash presentation starting at 6 p.m. (ADT) and headlined by Preferred 2 pacing mares and top trotters.

Race 12 will showcase a field of five pacing mares vying for a $4,450 purse, with Badgirl Bridgette listed as the 5-2 morning line favourite. The Bill Lanigan-owned and trained daughter of Stonebridge Terror out of Whatabadgirl has been ultra-consistent all summer long in sophomore stakes action and will leave from post four for driver Jason Hughes. With her trademark closing kick, she will look to add another victory to her eight-for-10 season.

Sugar Bowl has been a model of consistency and gets respect as the 3-1 second choice. The six-year-old Sweet Lou-Well Read mare has been second in her last two starts against the region's top distaffers and will look to get it all from post three with Brady Sweet at the lines for trainer Jeff Holmes.

Another top contender is Get Answers from post two in line to Marc Campbell for trainer Landon Campbell, along with pylon-starter Tobins Brownie, trained and driven by Adam Merner, and Lady Devine, to be driven by David Dowling for trainer Jennifer Doyle, from post five.

The "Post Time Picks" takes Badgirl Bridgette to continue her special sophomore season: “How is Badgirl Bridgette’s season going so far? She’s 10-for-10 in top three finishes, banked over $56,000 in purses and has visited the winner’s circle eight times. She also has won against older mares before so with that in mind we’ll call for top spot.”

The Thursday card also boasts a $4,000 top-class trot in race nine with Buckhead Ridge the morning-line choice from post six for driver Marc Campbell and trainer Landon Campbell. Fight Song, in the hands of Jason Hughes, has been sharp in recent weeks and looms a live threat from post seven from the Ashley Gamester stable. The Tammy Collings trainee Longblacklimousine has the rail with Paul Langille after winning his latest in 1:58.4.
