The Ohio State Racing Commission has hired John Yinger to serve as presiding judge at three of the state’s four harness tracks – Scioto Downs, Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway, and Miami Valley Gaming and Racing.

The racetracks are expected to have 250 or more live racing dates with no overlapping live days in 2015.

At all Ohio racetracks, the racing commission employs the presiding judge or state steward. Each racetrack also employs two associate judges.

Yinger has worked in various capacities at Pompano Park in Florida since 2000. He was director of racing until May of this year and the presiding judge there for five years beginning in 2004.

His first job as a racing official was in Ohio at Northfield Park near Cleveland. Yinger served there as an associate judge for 18 months prior to relocating to Florida.

Yinger will be in the judges’ stand when Dayton Raceway conducts its inaugural night of live racing on October 3.
