Little Grey Jug Set For Monday

Right on the heels of the world famous Little Brown Jug, Monticello Raceway will present its spoof on the event. The 'Little Grey Jug,' which is also for pacers and will be presented on Monday, September 27

.

Like all of the previous 20 editions of the annual event, this year's installment of the race is limited to standardbreds of grey or roan color.

“It probably wasn’t the first time ever that a race was presented for grey coloured pacers," noted Monticello Raceway Director of Racing Eric Warner, "but when we had the inaugural event in 1990 it gained instant notice, and was, and continues to be, a fan favourite. We’ve got a good competitive field in this year's edition, which will be the eighth race on Monday.”

Warner was alluding to the seven-horse field spearheaded by the swift pacer Jaguar Jet.Trained by Nick Surick for Melvin Fink, Cliff Grundy and Anna Glide, the veteran Jet Laag gelding will be handled by Zeke Parker and start on the outside from Post 7.

Brickyard Wayne, Caidens Colt, Big Reuben, Big Tom, Golden Seven, Hood River and Art Lee will also be contesting the event.

First-race post time for Monticello's 13-race card is 12:50 p.m., with 3:25 p.m. post time for the Little Grey Jug.
