The dash with the most lucrative purse on Sunday (Sept. 23) at Leamington Raceway was Race 8, a conditioned event that held a $4,500 prize, and it was clear to everyone watching that the Ron Adams-trained and Nick Steward-driven Erle Dale N deserved the winner’s share.

After having been bet down to even money, the gelded son of Western Terror lined up to Post 3 and went on to be first at every call. Erle Dale N ($5.40) spun off the fractions in :29.3, 1:00.2 and 1:30.1. He came home in :28.1 and posted a four and three-quarter-length victory in 1:58.2 over his six rivals.

Erle Dale N has now won four of his 29 seasonal starts and $32,000 in ’18 purses for David Kryway of Amherstberg, Ont. and an Ontario-based numbered company.

The bay 10-year-old has now won 45 of his 198 career assignments and over $557,000 in purses.

Steward recorded a driving double on the card. The first five dashes on the program were won by Lorne House and Garrett Rooney – the former won Race 1 and 2, while the former notched tallies in Race 3, 4 and 5.
