SYR Takes In Sudbury Card

On Sunday, September 15, the Sudbury Young Riders Group broadened their horsey knowledge and visited Sudbury Downs eager to learn about standardbred racing.

The event-filled afternoon included gate-car rides, a visit to the announcer’s booth, a backstretch tour and a visit with the Ontario Racing Commission judges on hand, all while enjoying a live, 10-race card.

In all, the Sudbury Young Riders group and their families had a wonderful time supporting another horsey discipline in our Northern community.

The mission of the SYR is to foster a passion for horsemanship, equestrian sport, equine health and welfare.

Through education and events, the SYR program develops character, leadership, confidence and a sense of community among its members, creating well-rounded equestrians who are able to care for and ride their horses in a correct and safe manner.

The goal of the SYR program is to ignite each rider’s passion for advancing their horsemanship knowledge and making it an integral part of their equestrian life.
