The second annual City Of Greater Sudbury Pace is set for October 2 at Sudbury Downs. Featuring a $75,000 purse, the richest ever for a single race at Sudbury Downs, this premier race has drawn quality horses from across Ontario.

With 14 horses entered to race, fans can get a sneak-peek at the contenders during the eliminations on Saturday, September 25. First race post time is 7:15 p.m.

One contender harness racing fans may pay special attention to is this year’s Gold Cup and Saucer winner Part Shark. Winning Prince Edward Island’s prestigious Gold Cup and Saucer in a record time of 1:51 flat, Part Shark promises to elevate the excitement of the City of Greater Sudbury Pace at Sudbury Downs. However, Part Shark will need to overcome the challenge of three of Sudbury’s finest: Deuces And Jacks, Buckys Luck and Brawny.

On October 2, Crime Stoppers will be holding a “Race Against Crime” Night at the Races in the Mardi Gras Dining Lounge. This annual fundraising event supports a great cause in our community and Sudbury Downs is happy to welcome Crime Stoppers to a great night of racing featuring the City of Greater Sudbury Pace.

“We are really happy with the number and quality of horses entered to race in the City of Greater Sudbury Pace,” said Ken Le Drew, General Manager of Sudbury Downs. “October 2 is shaping up to be a great night of harness racing!”
