While many would recall baseball Hall of Famer Reggie Jackson as 'Mr. October' for his post-season heroics, the recent on-track exploits of Goliath Reigns have the pacing veteran in consideration for a nickname of 'Mr. September.'
The summer months weren't too kind to the 10-year-old son of Goliath Bayama. Between May and August, Goliath Reigns couldn't find the winner's circle with a search party. After starting the season in April with a win at Truro Raceway, he was winless in 14 straight starts. Those fortunes reversed with a flip of the calendar and a change of scenery.
Since relocating to Exhibition Park Raceway on Sept. 1, Goliath Reigns has lived up to his name with three wins in four starts -- with the one loss coming out-of-province in a start at Summerside. Back in New Brunswick on Saturday (Sept. 22), Goliath Reigns once again dominated the EPR top class with a wire-to-wire win in 1:59.3 for driver Todd Trites and trainer-owner Dawn Ellis Abbott.
The win was the 21st lifetime for Goliath Reigns (Goliath Bayama - Tiger Reigns) lifting his earnings closer to the $100,000 plateau.
