An armada of sophomore trotting colts invaded Georgian Downs resulting in six $24,000 Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots divisions as part of their Tuesday night card of harness racing
.
Perhaps the biggest surprise of the night was the defeat of Agusto, his first loss in the Grassroots series. Berndt Energy was able to capitalize on that miscue and - despite racing with broken equipment - tally a 1:58 score for driver Brad Forward and trainer Bob McIntosh, who co-owns with C S X Stables of Liberty Center, Ohio.
Forward & McIntosh captured another division with Peter Pan Stables' Panz Kafka, whose 1:57.1 score was co-fastest of the night along with Lukas Rossi, who was driven by Randy Fritz for trainer-owner Ron O'Neill, P C Wellwood Enterprises Inc of Cambridge and Nancy Stephens of Woodstock, Ont.
The three-year-old colt trotters have only one race left on the schedule before the Semi-Finals, October 8 at Flamboro Downs. To view the divisional leaderboard, click here.
