Ellasen got the worst of a three-wide skirmish for the early lead, but it did not bother her a bit as she cruised to her second-straight victory in Tuesday’s (Sept. 21) feature at The Meadows, a $12,000 filly & mare conditioned pace.
Ellasen dueled with All Day Sunshine and Something Reel from the gate and was pushed to a :27 quarter before she could cross over. Rather than tiring, the seven-year-old daughter of Big Bad John-So Very Nice widened late for Hunter Myers and defeated All Day Sunshine by four lengths in 1:52, matching her career best. Something Reel saved show.
Andy Rickert trains Ellasen, who now has banked $292,120 in her career, for Murdock Racing Stable.
Dave Palone and Myers each piloted four winners on the 13-race card while Dan Rawlings enjoyed a triple.
Live racing at The Meadows continues Wednesday (Sept. 22) when the 12-race program features an $899.36 carryover in the final-race Super Hi-5. First post is 12:45 p.m. (EDT).
