Today New Meadowlands Racetrack LLC Chairman Jeff Gural announced that NMRLLC is opening a search for a new general manager.
Current GM Mike Newlin, who directed the track through its initial season as a private entity, is resigning effective October 5, 2012. Newlin is joining Penn National Gaming as the general manager of the Sanford-Orlando Kennel Club in Longwood, Florida.
"I wish Mike well in his new position," Gural said. "Under his leadership, we accomplished many important milestones including a successful live meet, opening the Bayonne Off-Track Wagering facility and beginning the construction of the new Meadowlands Racetrack. He has set a firm foundation of customer service expectations for our employees and created many great customer relationships."
“While the Meadowlands transition was a challenge, it is very rewarding to look back and see what we accomplished in just one year," Newlin said. "Our live meet was up over six per cent in attendance and up eight per cent in live on-track handle. It has been an honour to be entrusted with the Meadowlands legacy, but I have been interested in joining the Penn National organization for a long time. The opportunity presented itself and I want to continue to expand my professional experiences. I want to thank Jeff Gural for giving me the chance to run one of the premier racetracks in North America. I wish Jeff and the New Meadowlands team the very best in the future.”
Rob Fitzpatrick (CFO) will act as interim general manager of the Meadowlands.
