Metro Pace champion Captaintreacherous took a spin around The Red Mile racetrack during Friday morning's qualifying session in preparation for his upcoming Grand Circuit stakes engagements in Lexington, Kentucky.
Tim Tetrick sent the Tony Alagna trained-Captaintreacherous to the lead from the outside post four and rated the colt through fractions of :29.4, :58.2, and 1:27 before sending him home in :26-seconds to stop the teletimer in 1:53 flat. Stablemate Emeritus Maximus and Pat Lachance trainee Sir Richard Z Tam followed approximately three lengths behind in second and third with final quarters of :26.2 and :26, respectively.
Captaintreacherous is being pointed to the Bluegrass Series next on September 29 and the International Stallion Stakes on October 6.
After finishing a close second in his career debut on July 20 at Meadowlands Racetrack, the Somebeachsomewhere-Worldly Treasure colt won his next five races including three sub-1:50 victories. Among his stakes wins are the Woodrow Wilson, a division of the Nassagaweya Stakes, and the Metro. He has banked $741,337 thus far in his career.
The $250,000 Lexington Selected Sale purchase is owned by Toronto's Marvin Katz, Joe Sbrocco of Brecksville, Ohio, Brittany Farms of Versailles, Kentucky and breeder White Birch Farm of Allentown, New Jersey.
