This news comes a day after the fact, but congratulations are in order for driver Pascal Berube who notched the 2,000th victory of his career on Sunday afternoon

at Sulky Quebec.

Berube went into yesterday’s 10-race card needing just a single victory to achieve the milestone, and he clicked with Awesome Nick in the eighth race to accomplish the feat. The three-year-old son of Electric Stena was parked through the opening quarter of the mile before finding the front and front-stepping to a 1:59.3 win for Berube and trainer Gerard Landry.

The victory was the 77th of the season for Berube, who has been a mainstay on the Quebec circuit since he started his driving career in 1992. He enjoyed a career year in 2005 by guiding 210 horses to victory lane and banking more than $700,000 in seasonal earnings. He has driven the winners of purses in excess of $5.7 million to date.
