Like A Glove took command at the start and waved goodbye to his rivals in the top class at Truro Raceway on Sunday, Sept. 20 as he accelerated to an open-length victory for trainer/driver Marc Whebby.
Like A Glove pushed past a pair of starters to his inside to take the lead into a :27.4 opening panel then stole a second-quarter breather to the half :57.1 before accelerating away from the field to three-quarters in 1:25.3. He left his rivals 14-1/2 lengths behind to battle it out for the minor awards as he romped to a 1:54.3 season's best victory.
The rest of the field spread six-across the track in the race for place, with the favoured first-over Bronx Drifter (Robert Laffin) securing the runner-up honours for his second straight start ahead of Nova Scotia Strong (Darren Crowe), who had charged three-wide up the backstretch the final time.
Like A Glove paid $6.90 to win as the 2-1 second choice in the afternoon's $2,500 feature.
A career winner of 16 races and more than $85,000, the five-year-old son of McWicked and Twin B Virtue earned his third win in 11 Truro starts this year for owner Wayne Whebby of Dartmouth, N.S.
