End Of Season Series Sequel In Sarnia

The second leg of the End Of Season Claiming Series went postward at Hiawatha Horse Park on Thursday evening, with two divisions on tap for the fillies and mares.

After finishing third in last week’s opening leg of the series, Northern Fling was much the best in her second-leg assignment. Nick Steward rallied the Don Beatson-trained daughter of Camluck to the 1:54.4 score over Oye Vera Bizzie and Modern Star.

Beatson shares ownership on the mare with Ken Beatson of Palgrave and Sandra and Ralph Pitt of Cargill, ON.

Inca Queen prevailed in her $3,500 tilt for the duo of driver Marc St. Louis, Jr. and trainer Wayne Preszcator. The daughter of Peruvian Hanover brushed to the lead in the late stages of the mile and drew clear to win by 2-1/4 lengths over St Lads Moxie in 1:55.2. Third prize went to Twin B Shasta.

Kevin Maguire of Parkhill, ON owns the mare, who now has a win and a second-place finish in the preliminary legs of the series.

The $14,720 final of the End Of Season Claiming Series is scheduled for Thursday, September 27 at Hiawatha Horse Park.
