Prairie Fortune Captures Tioga Open

Prairie Fortune charged late to win the $10,000 Open II Handicap Trot at Tioga Downs on Saturday, September 2.

Winemaster Hanover grabbed the lead and controlled through fractions of :27.3, :57.0, 1:25.1. Zoraze gained control in mid stretch, but Praire Fortune rallied three wide and flew to get the victory in 1:54.2. Zoraze held for second with BJ Anthony getting third.

Prairie Fortune, who is owned by Laurie Puolin and trainer Mike Deters, won for the seventh time this year and earned career win number 34. Driven by Jim Meittinis, he paid $3.80.

There is no racing on Sunday, September 3 because of the Golden Boys concert. Live action returns on Monday, September 4 for a Labor Day matinee beginning at 1 p.m. The 12-race card will be highlighted by two division of the New York Sire Stakes for three-year-old pacing fillies.
