Oakrock Almighty eked out a narrow victory with off-the-pace efforts in this week's $2,200 Preferred at Charlottetown Driving Park on Saturday night.

Oakrock Almighty ($7.40) sat third through early panels of :28.2 and :57.4 in the featured event before being shuffled back to fifth at the 1:27 third quarter mark as War Cry Ranger launched a first over challenge on pacesetter I D K and favourite Eagle Luck fanned three-wide. However, Oakrock Almighty unleashed a :28.2 final frame to get up for the 1:56.1 score by a neck. Eagle Luck edged out War Cry Ranger for second while I D K finished one length back in fourth. Pocket-sitter Brief Bliss earned the final paycheque in fifth.

Ron Matheson drove the six-year-old son of Rambaran for trainer Jackie Matheson and owners Jack Keenan of Stratford, P.E.I. and C. Joseph Dahl of Burlington, Ont. The black gelding notched his 20th win while making his 100th career start.
