A new stakes event featuring two-year-old trotters will take centre stage Thursday, September 3 at the Charlottetown Driving Park. First-race post time is 7:00 p.m.
The card kicks off a busy weekend schedule of racing with Charlottetown hosting a Saturday program at 7:00 p.m. with Summerside Raceway holding the holiday program on Monday at 1:00 p.m.
The John 'Buddy' Campbell Memorial, presented by Meridian Farms, will go to post as Race 6 with nine entries and a purse of $14,350. The race honours the memory of the longtime horseman, race classifier and starter at the CDP.
Howmacs Amigo, owned by Howmac Farms Ltd. and trained by Earl Watts, is the 5-2 morning line favourite. Earl Smith will be driving. Diamond Mine -- which will ship in from Nova Scotia -- and Porter are also listed as triactor candidates. Red Pajamas, who leaves from the back tier post 9, is considered a strong contender for trainer Blayne White and driver Marc Campbell.
