Which Driver Will You Cheer For?

Is one of your favourite harness racing drivers competing for the National Driving Championship title on Friday, October 14 at The Raceway at Western Fair District? Well, here’s your chance to cheer them on!

Eight drivers from across the country qualified in four regional championships, advancing them to the National event in London, Ont. We are asking our racing fans to join us in cheering on Canada’s top drivers while they compete for the honour of representing Canada in the 2017 World Driving Championship on home turf!

Cheerleaders will wear the driving colours of their respective drivers, and will act as a cheering and support section, engaging with fans and spectators during the eight races of the competition. If you are enthusiastic, outgoing and have a passion for Canadian harness racing then this experience is for you!

Each cheerleader will receive an I Love Canadian Harness Racing Fan Club swag bag, a NDC baseball cap and a $20 betting voucher. The cheerleader of the winning driver will receive an additional $50 betting voucher as well as a Meet & Greet with their driver after the races.

Now is your chance to become the official cheerleader of your favourite driver! All prospective cheerleaders (you must be over 18 years of age) are asked to submit their name, age, and why they should be chosen as a cheerleader via email to [email protected]. Submissions must be received by September 30 at 5:00pm (EST). The successful cheerleaders will be announced one week prior to the competition.

Here is a list of the competing drivers:

  • Brandon Campbell

  • Guy Gagnon

  • Trevor Henry

  • Jason Hughes

  • Brett MacDonald

  • James MacDonald

  • Corey MacPherson

  • Jim Marino

The winner of the NDC will represent Canada in harness racing's World Driving Championship, hosted by Standardbred Canada in concert with the World Trotting Conference in August, 2017.
