This year's International Plowing Match And Rural Expo, running from Sept. 16 to 20 in Ivy, Ont., includes a one-acre exhibit called "World of Horses" with Standardbred racing represented.
The "World of Horses" exhibit displays dozens of horses from an impressive six-hitch Clydesdale team to three-month-old miniature horses and everything in between. Visitors are enjoying demonstrations, breed exhibits, a children's equine activity centre and industry information booths.
Standardbred racing has a huge presence with the help of many local horse people. The Race Under Saddle team is a major attraction with an interactive children's exhibit and daily demonstrations featuring local famous trotter Abbey Road C and trainer Keith Jones. Other Standardbred racing contributors included the Steeves family, John Burt, Standardbred Canada, Georgian Downs, Grand River and Hanover racetracks.
