Enigma Hanover completed his second series sweep at Sudbury Downs when he captured the $23,300 Young Guns Series Final in a career-best 1:56.1
on Saturday night.
Lil Pilgrim (David Dowling), a first leg winner, cleared the lead at the :27.2 opening quarter and proceeded to cut out middle splits of :56.2 and 1:26.1. Meanwhile, Enigma Hanover and trainer-driver Allan Hohner began to advance first up from third. The three-year-old son of The Panderosa-Eicarls Olvidar wore down the pacesetter past the third interval and cruised to his seventh consecutive win. Casimir Jitterbug (Mario Rivest) finished two and a half lengths behind in second with Sa Summers Luck (Jason Ryan), a second leg victor, third.
Enigma Hanover paid $3.40 to win as the bettor’s choice. The gelding, who was winless in four starts at two, has won 10 of his 26 starts this year to earn $57,748 of owner R. K. Joe Miskokomon of Muncey, ON. He previously swept the Juggernaut Series at Sudbury in August.
