Lonestar Hot Stuff Steps Up At Northside

Lonestar Hot Stuff offered up a surprise win when he rallied from third in the stretch in the featured $900 Winners Over Pace Saturday afternoon at Northside Downs

Shifty Shadow (John Beaton) was the leader through the opening panels of :28.2 and :58.4 before the pocket-sitting Woodmere Westerner (Greg Bailey) took over at the 1:28.3 three-quarters mark. With Ryan Campbell in the bike, Lonestar Hot Stuff, who was watching the action from third, made his move in the stretch and using a :29.3 final quarter, he lowered his mark to 1:58.3.

Woodmere Westerner was the runner-up finishing over a length behind while last week’s winner, Odyssey Killean (Edgar Jacob), finished third.

Trained and owned by Hartigan Campbell, the five-year-old Thatll Be Me-Keystone Hot Stuff gelding scored his fourth win in 15 tries this year. Lonestar Hot Stuff now sports eight wins on his lifetime record with $5,619 earned.
