Trainer Carl Jamieson surpassed $30 million in career earnings on Thursday, Sept. 17 at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
The Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Famer hit the milestone by collecting two minor cheques during the card. His entrant in the third race, D A Volusia, broke shortly after the start in his career debut and finished sixth but was elevated to fifth and raked in $1,100. Jamieson’s Brians Halo then finished fourth in the finale and earned $1,600, pushing the conditioner’s career earnings to $30,000,272. Both were driven by Carl’s son, Jody.
Jamieson, a native of Pugwash, N.S. who moved to Ontario in 1986, has won 1,167 races in 5,899 starts. The 75-year-old is known as the trainer of 2011 North America Cup champion Up The Credit, world champion Warrawee Needy and Breeders Crown winner Santanna Blue Chip. The 2013 Hall of Fame inductee has been nominated for the O’Brien Award of Horsemanship in each of the last two years and won that honour in 2006. In 2026, Jamieson has collected 32 wins — tied for his best total since 2011 — and $916,159 in earnings from 157 starts.
Featured on the Thursday Mohawk card were four $30,000 Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots divisions of leg five for three-year-old trotters.
Look A Diamond ($14.90) won the opening filly split with a resolute front-end effort in 1:53.4. Trevor Henry had the lines of the Lookslikeachpndale-Black Diamond Star miss for trainer Peter Hamilton.
A Splash Of Green ($4.30) matched that clocking while also setting the pace as the daughter of Green Manalishi S-Allmar Victory scored for driver James MacDonald and trainer Blake MacIntosh.
Stormont Fast Boy ($16.70) was indeed swift as he reached up late for a 1:52.3 score in the second division for colts and geldings. The Kevin Benn-trained Muscle Mass-Countess Stormont gelding was driven by Bob McClure.
Stonebridge Wings ($22.70) kicked to a 1:54.1 score in the other colt division. James MacDonald drove the son of Archangel-Stonebridge Glider for conditioner Marcel Barrieau.
