Mattamerican Upsets In Meadows Feature

Dismissed at 12-1, Mattamerican followed the live cover of the favourite, Cammikey, then brushed through the lane to score the upset victory in Friday’s $15,000 Winners Over $10,000 Life Pace at The Meadows.

The race was set up for closers when Sam Hill was forced to a wicked :25.4 opening panel while battling for the lead. Cammikey led the outside flow, providing escort service for Mattamerican, who triumphed in 1:50.3 for Eric Ledford. I’m The Pied Piper rallied for second, 2-1/2 lengths back, while Cammikey saved show.

Norm Parker trains Mattamerican, a four-year-old son of Allamerican Native-Mattadorable who extended his career bankroll to $229,753, for owner/breeder Bob Key.

Tony Hall and Ledford each piloted three winners on the 13-race card.
