Thomas Riley students Siddall and Winfall Nasty swept the top two spots in the $9,200 Back To School Pacing Series Final for $5,000 claimers at Kawartha Downs on Saturday night
. Siddall led the way, earning his six consecutive victory and seventh on the year in 17 starts.
Schmokin Shannon A (Pat Hudon) nosed out inside starter Premium Bliss (Fred Brethour) to the opening quarter in :27.2 and pushed ahead to establish a two length lead on the field en route to the half in :57.
Meanwhile, Shaws Creek Maddy (Reg Gassien) launched a first over attack from third with the Riley stablemates following his cover. Shaws Creek Maddy confronted the early leader at three-quarters in 1:26.3 while Siddall fanned wide with Winfall Nasty following and trailer Independent Guy (Gord Brown) even wider. Siddall collared Shaws Creek Maddy at the top the stretch and paced to victory in 1:55.4 with Winfall Nasty coming on for second, just a half-length behind. Finishing two lengths back in third was Shaws Creek Maddy
Siddall paid $3.50 to win as the bettor’s choice. The eight-year-old son of Real Artist and his stablemate are owned by Amanda Riley of Roseneath, Ont.
