Driver Trevor Henry enjoyed a five-win Friday night at Grand River Raceway, but the program ended on a nerve-wracking note as a minor accident resulted in the 12th race being declared a No Contest

by the Ontario Racing Commission judges.

In the evening’s final race, World Of Outlaws (Bruce Richardson) made a break on the lead and caused confusion to rest of the field. J L Tiger (Doug McNair) and Hbfs Power Play (Ryan Holliday) were in mid-pack when they hooked wheels, which slowed their pace as the remaining horses maneuvered around them. McNair was dumped from the bike towards the inside of the track and out of harm’s way as his horse turned around and traveled back towards the paddock, where he was quickly retrieved without incident. McNair walked away from the incident unscathed.

Footage of the dash can be viewed on the race video archive page of Grand River Raceway’s website.

Henry kicked off his productive night early on with back-to-back wins in the second and third races aboard So Precious K ($16.60) for trainer Paul Taylor and Ambers Punch ($6.70) for Ron Mitchell. He was back at it winning the fifth race with Friend Of A Friend ($7.60) for A.J. Moore and then the seventh and eighth races with Kesons Sergei ($3.90) for Taylor and Seahorse Run ($7.10) for Russell Ellis.

Henry trails Grand River’s leading reinman, Doug McNair, by just 10 wins. With 326 victories on his 2010 record, the resident of Arthur, ON is one of Canada’s top 10 drivers for wins and is approaching $2 million in earnings. Lifetime, he has won 3,665 races and over $23.5 million in purses.
