Fauvette Gale kicked off Hippodrome de Quebec’s 10-day meet on Saturday afternoon with a track record performance for two-year-old trotting fillies

.

In the $2,100 opening trot, Fauvette Gale, with Jerome Lombart in the bike, fired off the gate from Post 2 and reached the opening quarter in :28-seconds with a 13-length lead on her rivals. The daughter of Taurus Dream-Promising Gale maintained a double-digit margin to the half in :58.1 and three-quarters in 1:29.2 before coasting home for the 2:03 triumph. The time of the mile lowered the former track record, held by Garlapp Content, by one full second.

Favourite Noisette P V (Jocelyn Gendron) finished seven lengths behind in second while Northernpromise (Sylvain Lacaille) recovered from an early miscue to finish 18 lengths back in third.

Fauvette Gale paid $7.00 to win as the 5-2 second choice in the field. Lombart also trains, owns and bred the winner of two races in six outings and $3,136.

The Hippodrome de Quebec meet will continue next Saturday, September 25. Saturday and Sunday cards will be held in October, with Quebec City's historic five-mile race scheduled for the final program on October 24.

The Quebec Jockey Club was unable to arrange streaming video for this 10 race meet but definitley plan to do so for next year's longer meet.

There were in excess of 2,000 fans present enjoying a very positive atmosphere on a great sunlight afternoon with a pari mutuel handle of over $36,000 live exceeding previous records ( except for the special 5 mile race day).
