Northside Downs will host the final preliminary legs of the Atlantic Sires Stakes for the two-year-old pacing fillies and trotting divisions during a mega Saturday, Sept. 19 afternoon program with a total of 19 races.
The action starts with a non-wagering Atlantic Sires Stakes event at 12:30 p.m. (ADT) followed by the regular betting card at 1 p.m. (ADT) including eight other Atlantic Sires Stakes.
Undefeated two-year-old trotting colt Stunning Speed will look to continue his winning ways in the first of two $10,000 Atlantic Sires Stakes events for the division, the third race on Saturday's betting card. The Muscle Through It-Stunning Look colt boasts a perfect seven-for-seven rookie record and is the Sires Stakes divisional point leader after competing in all three prior preliminary legs for trainer/driver Mike McGuigan and owners Little Pond Stables of Little Pond, P.E.I., and The Coles Stable of Charlottetown, P.E.I.
The two-year-old trotting filly division is headlined by trainer Myles Heffernan Jr.'s Early Speed and the McGuigan stable's Rockin Through It. Tied atop the Sires Stakes standings, the Muscle Through It fillies will settle the score in the $10,000 opener on the betting card.
Three-year-old trotting colts will take to the track in a $10,000 event in race seven with division leader Little Louis going for his eighth straight victory. The defending Atlantic Breeders Crown champion, who has just two career losses from 19 starts, is driven by Corey MacPherson and trained by Kuri White. The E L Rocket-Go With Her gelding is a homebred for East Coast Captains of Cornwall, P.E.I.
The three-year-old trotting filly event will be a $8,200 non-wagering match race with division leader Bonmati, driven by MacPherson and trained by Blayne White, facing a maiden filly foe.
Woodmere Twigs, the two-year-old pacing filly point leader, will compete in the first of two $14,320 'A' events for the division in race 13. The Blood Money-Very Ideal Hanover filly enters the final preliminary leg off her second Sires Stakes score in a career-best 1:58.4 at Charlottetown Driving Park last Saturday for trainer/driver Adam Merner and owner Runningonempty of Stanhope, P.E.I. There are also two $6,000 'B' events carded.
