Cams Nimble Tops At SJHHA Horse Show

On September 4, during Exhibition Week at Exhibition Park Raceway, standardbreds took the spotlight in the Saint John Harness Horsemen's Association 2010 Horse Show

.

The title of Best Overall Horse went to Cams Nimble, with Randy Phillips. The event marked the second consecutive year the four-year-old son of Cams Magic/Norwell Nimble has walked away with top honours.

"The SJHHA organizes a halter-class horse show every year during our Exhibition week, and the Saint John Exhibition Association is the main sponsor for the event," explained Kristyn Quinn-Phillips, who also stated that the show took place in the EPR paddock."

All of the standardbreds that participate are racehorses, and are shown in four groups (Youth Mare/Filly, Youth Horse/Gelding, Adult Mare/Filly, and Adult Horse/Gelding).

The youths which take part are generally 16 years of age and under, and horses can be shown in multiple classes. The winners of each class are then judged to determine the 'Best Overall' winner. Prizes are also awarded for 'Best Presentation' and 'Best Behaved.'

"This year, we had Lindsay Nice judge the show on September 4. She is an actual judge for show horses," explained Quinn-Phillips, who also said that the main criteria for that competition is confirmation

• Lindsay Allaby with Crowley Creek,

Youth Gelding
• Alicia Waddell with CS Machomacho Man

Adult Mare
• Carrie McNeill with Houseofstars

Adult Horse/Gelding
• Randy Phillips with Cams Nimble

'Best Presentation' went to Jessie McGrath with Golden Days N. 'Best Behaved' was awarded to Dale Spence, Jr., with Spring It On Me. 'Best Overall Mare' went to Carrie McNeill, with House of Stars.

Quinn-Phillips went on to say, "We had our youngest presenter ever this year. Kate MacNeill (age five) was there with her dad's horse, PH Catman. She finished third in the Youth/Geldings class!"
