On Tuesday, Sept. 16, new stallion details were announced for Karl ahead of his first season standing stud.

The owners of Karl — Christina & Nancy Takter, Black Horse Racing, Crawford Farms Racing and Bender Sweden — announced that, after careful consideration, the stallion will be syndicated and stand at Southwind Farms in New Jersey.

Karl (Tactical Landing-Avalicious-RC Royalty) is the only trotter in history to earn more than $1 million in both his two and three-year-old seasons. At two, he won nine of 10 starts, including two divisions of the Kentucky Sire Stakes and final, a division of the Bluegrass Stakes, an elimination and the final of the Breeders Crown, the Kindergarten Series final, and topped off his two-year-old Dan Patch Award-winning season by winning the Valley Victory Stakes by open lengths.

At three, he continued his dominance, sweeping the New Jersey Sire Stakes, winning a division of the Reynolds Stakes, and capturing both an elimination and the final of the Hambletonian in dramatic fashion. He also won three legs of the Kentucky Sire Stakes before sickness and an injury sidelined him.

Karl retired from racing with 18 wins, two seconds and one third in 23 lifetime starts, career winnings of $2,424,611 and a lifetime record of 1:50.2 taken at The Red Mile.

Now, after a year of rehabilitation, Karl is ready to begin his stallion career. He will be standing at the same farm as his sire (Tactical Landing) and grandsire (Muscle Hill).

Frozen semen is available and three of five test mares are confirmed in foal. Shares in Karl are available, with a service fee of $12,500 USD for the 2026 breeding season.
