Sudbury Hosts Young Guns Series Elims

The Young Guns Pacing Series began on Saturday night at Sudbury Downs with a pair of $8,500 eliminations.

The series is for pacers that are five years old and younger, non-winners of three races or $40,000 lifetime (fillies and mares four races or $50,000 lifetime). Winners of over $80,000 lifetime are not eligible. No additional allowances. Conditions as of midnight, Saturday, August 18, 2012.

Making his first start for trainer-driver Mike Noble and new owner Edward Gorc, All Over The World ($16.80) went from last to first in the opening elimination and held off his stablemate, Sturgeon Seelster, to win by a head in 1:58 flat. The Bettors Delight gelding earned his fourth win in 25 seasonal starts. Heat Wave Final winner Mellow Jenny finished third.

Mohawk Racetrack ship-in Rock Concert ($5.30) advanced from third to first past the half and opened up three and a half lengths on her foes to win the other elimination in 1:56.2 with David Dowling in the sulky. The victory was her fourth in 19 seasonal starts. Trainer Bob Young co-owns the Rocknroll Hanover miss with Brian Barton, David Garrett, and the Stand In Line Stable. Carly Hollywood and S F Pioneer were second and third, respectively.

In other action, trainer France and driver Paul MacLean teamed up for a productive night at the track with veteran trotting mare Ew Royal Pain ($3.30) and four-year-old pacers Dannys Atthedance ($3.90) and Flight Night ($6.50) all earning their second consecutive wins in a row. Paul MacLean went on to score a driving grand slam with Brittany Robertson trainee Amazing Quest ($6.90).

Sudbury's Young Guns will return next Saturday, September 22 for the $30,000 (estimated) final and $12,000 (estimated) consolation.
