Idyllic, who ended See You At Peelers’ 22-race winning streak on August 29, has been installed as the early 9-5 favourite for the $292,350 Jugette
for three-year-old pacing fillies which will be contested Wednesday, September 21 at the Delaware Ohio County Fairgrounds.
Idyllic, who is trained by Casie Coleman, snapped 'Peelers' win streak when she captured the $150,193 Nadia Lobell in a career best 1:50.
The 41st Jugette drew 11 starters and will be raced in two eliminations.
Idyllic, the O'Brien Award winner who was second to See You At Peelers in the 2010 voting for two-year-filly champion in the U.S., has had plenty of other big moments during her career. In two seasons, she has 11 victories, career winnings of $1,177,204, and victories as a two-year-old in the Three Diamonds Stakes and Shes A Great Lady Stakes. She also finished third in last year’s Breeders Crown.
David Miller will drive the daughter of American Ideal from Post 4 in the first of the Jugette's first-heat eliminations. There will be two $58,470 first-heat eliminations. The top-four finishers from each first-heat elimination will return later in the Wednesday program to contest the $175,410 final.
Myluvmylife, who has been gauged at odds of 3-1 on the morning line, could also loom large in the first elimination. Trained by Ron Burke, the Rocknroll Hanover filly has $362,062 in winnings. She will be driven by Brian Sears.
Strike An Attitude, a multiple Pennsylvania Sires Stakes winner, is the 2-1 favourite in the second elimination and Pretty Katherine has been assessed as the second early choice at odds of 5-2.
Strike An Attitude comes into the Jugette with $731,394 in earnings. She is trained by Robert McIntosh and will be driven by Dave Palone.
Pretty Katherine is a stablemate of Idyllic trained by Casie Coleman and will be driven by George Brennan.
The second (and final) heat will carry a purse of $175,410. This is the first year that the winner of the second heat will be declared the Jugette champion. In previous years, a filly had to win separate heats to be Jugette champion.
