Strapped topped the 2025 Goshen Yearling Sale that was held on Monday, Sept. 15 at the Mark Ford Training Center in Middletown, New York.
Selling as Hip 60, Strapped was the sale topper with a final bid of $104,167 ($75,000 USD) from David Hamm of Dagsboro, Delaware. Consigned by Cameo Hills Farm and bred by Steve Jones, the colt is sired by Captain Corey out of the stakes-winning sister to millionaire stallion Dejarmbro, Borrow And Spend. Strapped's half siblings include Double Dippin ($96,030 - 1:55.2f), Grand Circuit stakes-placed Earn And Burn ($79,033 - 1:57f) and Fatima Blush, the dam of multiple stakes winner Chat Room ($345,971 - 1:52.1).
Hamm also acquired the sale's top priced filly, Happy Papi, from the same consignment. Selling as Hip 91, Happy Papi was purchased for $97,222 ($70,000 USD). The Papi Rob Hanover filly is out of Grand Circuit stakes-placed mare Happy Hannah and is a half sibling to a pair of six-figure earners, Tack Room Chatter ($300,083 - 1:50f) and Villannah ($108,485 - 1:54f).
A pair of yearlings sold for $55,556 ($40,000 USD), with Hamm also the buyer of one named Keystone Pillar. Selling as Hip 105, Keystone Pillar is a Huntsville-Keystone Krystal colt consigned by agent Cameo Hills Farm. The other was the The Back Of The Neck-Read The Book filly Bijou Blue Chip, Hip 34, purchased from the Blue Chip Farms consignment by Annie Stoebe of New Egypt, New Jersey.
In total, 110 yearlings sold for $2,297,167 ($1,653,960 USD), producing an average price of $20,883 ($15,036 USD), up approximately 2.6 per cent compared to last year's Goshen Yearling Sale average price.
"We want to thank all of our breeders, consignors and customers for supporting this sale and we look forward to doing it again next year," said said Mark Ford. "We always strive to provide a pleasant and profitable experience for both the buyer and seller by bringing the best-bred horses to this sale each year."
