It has been revealed that Shartin N, the fastest Standardbred mare in the world, will not be contesting the upcoming Milton Stakes at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
The news of Shartin N’s scratch from the $250,000 Milton (due to sickness) was conveyed by Woodbine Entertainment via social media on Saturday, prior to the stakes-packed card at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
Shartin N, who is trained by Jim King Jr. and driven by Tim Tetrick, has been ultra impressive since she arrived on American soil in January of 2018. The six-year-old daughter of Tintin In America has been tremendous to this point in 2019, as she has won 14 of her 15 seasonal starts and lowered the world record for a pacing mare down to 1:46.4. She added another world record to her resume earlier this month when she scorched Harrah’s Philadelphia’s five-eighths-mile oval in 1:48.
Shartin N is owned by Richard Poillucci (of North Easton, MA), Joann Looney King (Harrington, DE) and Tim Tetrick LLC (Woolwich Twp, NJ). From 39 North American starts, Shartin N has compiled a record of 33-1-0 and banked $1.97-million in purses.
In addition to news of the scratch, Woodbine Entertainment has also announced the post positions for the Milton, which will be contested this coming Saturday (Sept. 21) at the Campbellville, Ont. raceway.
