According to an online report, the connections of Pepsi North America Cup winner Well Said "are leaning towards" sending the Western Hanover colt to Ohio to contest the
Little Brown Jug on Thursday, September 24.
“We’re leaning towards it, Steve (trainer Steve Elliott) wants to go, so it looks that way,” Jeff Snyder, Well Said's co-owner, was quoted as saying. “[Well Said] has never been on a half-mile track before, but he had a good tightener the other night.”
“I thought we were going all along, but my owners wanted to talk about it after the Simcoe," Elliott was quoted as saying. "It’s one of the few races I haven’t won and this is my best shot at it.”
The report also states that trainer Jimmy Takter thinks that Vintage Master, his Western Ideal pupil that has triumphed in the Cane Pace and Adios, is a perfect candidate to contest the 'Jug.'
“I thought he raced very well, especially since it was the first time he’d been on a half-mile track," harnessracing.com quoted Takter as saying after Vintage Master's Cane win. "I think he showed that he is perfectly suitable for the Jug after that win.”
