Gigis Dream Gets Top Billing In Summerside Preferred

Gigis Dream will look to return to the winner’s circle on Tuesday, Sept. 15 in the evening's featured Preferred Pace at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.

The Prince County oval has 14 dashes scheduled for a 6 p.m. (ADT) opening post time.

National Caretakers Appreciation Day, presented by Standardbred Canada and supported by Red Shores and the Prince Edward Island Harness Racing Industry Association, will also be celebrated as part of the card.

The $6,600 featured pace lines up in race 13 with Gigis Dream installed as the 5-2 morning line favourite from the outside post five. Corey MacPherson will drive the Earl Watts trainee for owners Matt & David Burke of Stratford, P.E.I., and Windemere Farms of Springvale, P.E.I. The four-year-old son of Tellitlikeitis finished fourth against top-class company in his latest assignment and previously recorded back-to-back victories in 1:52.2 and 1:53.3 at Red Shores at the Charlottetown Driving Park in August.

Brookdale Johnny is the 3-1 second choice from post four with Paul Langille driving for trainer Phil Sizer and owners Doug Polley Jr., and Doug Polley Sr., of Amherst, N.S. Doc Awesome, a winner in 1:55.1 in his latest Summerside appearance, is listed at 7-2 from post three for driver David Dowling and trainer Darla MacEachern, who co-owns with Allen Gaudet and Mike Cameron of Summerside.

The "Backstretch Beat" sides with Gigis Dream to win: “Gigis Dream has spent his recent starts battling some of the fastest horses on the East Coast and now finds a favourable spot in the Summerside feature. He has proven he can race from anywhere and we expect MacPherson to have him in striking position when the real racing begins.”

Glenview Rhonda is the Post Time Picks’ most probable winner of the evening in race four. Keith Legge will drive the 5-2 favourite from post five for trainer/owner Adam Johnson. The eight-year-old mare enters the $4,400 contest off a 1:56.3 victory in Charlottetown.

The $4,400 finale in race 14 has Sure Thing Captain favoured at 5-2 from post six with Ken Murphy driving for trainer Ralph Sweet. Hound On The Beach, to be driven by Landon Campbell, is the 3-1 second choice from post five, while Melody Maker (Ryan Desroche) is listed at 7-2 from post eight.

The opening dash is the Garth Schurman Memorial with Applepiemoonshine selected on top from post seven for driver Jaycob Sweet and trainer Kyle Marchbank.
