Driver Jimmy Whittemore and trainer Dennis Whittemore brought game to Massachusetts on Thursday afternoon as their stable stars took the top two trots on the card at Plainridge Park.

In the $14,000 Open Trot Bloodstockshalltab led every step of the mile, taking advantage of no challengers early and going to the half in :57.1. Whittemore picked up the pace a bit in the second stanza as a mild bid from Tag Up And Go (Greg Merton) became evident moving to the three-quarters. At the top of the lane, Bloodstockshalltab was under steady urging from Whittemore and that prevented Tag Up And Go from getting any closer than a length, which was the margin of victory for Bloodstockshalltab when he crossed the wire in 1:55.2.

It was the eighth win of the year for Bloodstockshalltab ($5.80) and the first Open win of the year for him as well. The seven-year-old Cantab Hall gelding is owned by his trainer, Dennis Whittemore.

And in the co-featured $10,000 conditioned trot, Winding Hill took to the pylons off the gate while Wind And A Prayer (Nick Graffam) took the group to the quarter in :27.3. But Whittemore came quick and rushed to the lead in front of the grandstand and then took control form there, opening up a two-length lead and trotting in hand for the rest of the mile. While clocking the back half in :57.3, Winding Hill opened up four down the lane while Whittemore sat chilly in the bike, winning in 1:54.

It was the eighth win of the year for Winding Hill ($4.00), third win in a row and a new lifetime mark. The six-year-old son of Here Comes Herbie is owned by Diane Whittemore.

Greg Merton had a driving triple while Nick Graffam put two in the win column. And trainer Monique Cohen also had two conditioning tallies.

Racing resumes at Plainridge Park on Friday with post time set for 2:30 p.m.
