Classy pacer Dance Hanover turned a first over trip for driver Stephen Trites into a winning one in the feature pace at Exhibition Park Raceway on Saturday afternoon.
Dance Hanover clocked the fastest mile of the afternoon card with his 1:58.4 effort. Ultimate Stables own the 10-year-old son of Astreos while Sifroi Melanson handles the training duties. The 47-time career winner defeated the rallying second over Cecils Express and pacesetter Hyperion Blue Chip by two lengths.
Phil Hodgson led all drivers on the eight-race card as he guided three horses to victory lane. His fastest win of the day came with Battle Gear as the son of Geartogear was a dominating winner in 1:59.1 for owner Weldon Briggs and trainer Sandra Foley. He also guided Same Old Story in 2:01.3 and Provoke Me in 2:01, both horses shipping in from Fredericton.
Next week the racing spotlight shines back on Fredericton Raceway on Saturday, September 21 with a 1 p.m. start.
