According to a story on theage.com.au, Australia is the latest harness racing jurisdiction that has discovered a pacer that is a hermaphrodite

.

Tuscan Abbe, a four-year-old standardbred from the stable of trainer Les Kosklin, had elevated levels of testosterone detected following a swab test which was conducted after the pacer won a race in Bankstown.

Kosklin’s stable was raided shortly after the results of the test were released to racing officials. They suspected foul play, but nothing turned up in their search. Tuscan Abbe was later examined by a reproductive specialist, and the examination quickly answered everyone’s questions pertaining the results of the swab test.

The same type of revelation made headlines earlier this year in North America with the high profile pacer, Martha Maxine.
