Euchred is best known for his front-stepping skills, and on Friday evening he used them to perfection en route to capturing the $4,000 Johnny Conroy Memorial at Truro Raceway.

Redmond Doucet fired Euchred to the front in the five-horse affair, and Euchred had the field chasing him through fractions of :27.1, :55.2 and 1:24.1. He then used a :29.2 closing quarter to win by 1-1/2 lengths over Woodmere Ideal Art in 1:53.3. Doctor Royal took home third prize.

Walter Walker trains the seven-year-old son of Shadow Play-Tipsy Taters for Kayla Habitch Walker of Inverness, NS. The victory improved the gelding’s 2019 record to 7-6-3 from 18 starts. The 50-time winner has banked over $125,000 to date.
