A third-place finish with Artistic Madison in a $22,000 conditioned event Friday evening at Woodbine Mohawk Park doesn’t sound like a career highlight at first glance for trainer Carmen Auciello, but the money she made earned her conditioner a significant money milestone.
Auciello catapulted his earnings over $20 million by virtue of that mare’s $2,640 payday.
The 2019 season has proved to be a kind one to Auciello considering he’s already sent out 137 winners while banking more than $2.5 million along the way. In all likelihood, the Stouffville, Ont. horseman will secure a personal best total when it comes to purse earnings in a single season.
He racked up more than $2.8 million last year – his best year to date from a money earning perspective – while sending out 186 winners. Another special accomplishment for Auciello in 2018 was nabbing an O’Brien Award with pacing mare, Exhilarated.
Training horses since 2004, Auciello has managed to stockpile 1,336 wins in addition to purse earnings in excess of $20 million.
