Majorca N and Corey Callahan overcame post position eight and prevailed in 1:53.3 in the featured $20,000 Fillies and Mares Open Pace on Tuesday, Sept. 12 at Harrington Raceway.
Majorca N was sent to the front with urgency and cleared the lead near the opening quarter-mile. She fought off a fierce charge by the lone filly in the field, Misty Coast, who battled gamely first-over, but was ultimately rebuffed as Majorca N notched her sixth win of the year by a head. Tae finished third.
Owned by Michael Casalino and Dylan Davis, the eight-year-old Art Major mare boosted her seasonal earnings to nearly $100,000 for co-owner and trainer Davis. The well-travelled Majorca N has been in New York and Pennsylvania her last two starts but returned home a winner.
Cody Poliseno, Tony Morgan, Ross Wolfenden and Montrell Teague each had two wins on the card.
