This week's top class honours went to Daddy Let Me Drive, who wore down pacesetter Euchred in the stretch to take the featured finale on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 12) at Inverness Raceway.

Last week's winner Euchred and trainer/driver Walter Walker blasted off the gate to establish the lead in the $1,700 Winners Over Pace, clearing distaffer Dan Dar Mal and Alex MacNeil in the first turn. Daddy Let Me Drive, driven by Rod Gillis, followed in third with Brookdale Buster and Andrew MacLean lagging behind the field that was reduced to four with a pair of scratches.

Euchred led the strung out four-pack through a :28.1 opening quarter and past the half-mile mark :57 with Dan Dar Mal moving up on Walker's helmet and Daddy Let Me Drive ready to roll as they headed to the backstretch the final time.

Daddy Let Me Drive began to progress as they raced by three-quarters in 1:27.2 and battled past the front-striding Euchred off the final turn, getting up to score by three-quarters of a length at the end of the 1:57.4 mile.

Daddy Let Me Drive returned $4.40 to win as the second choice, with favourite Euchred settling for second and Dan Dar Mal finishing third.

Owned and trained by Don Beaton, the seven-year-old I Can Only Dream gelding earned his seventh victory of the season from 20 starts. He now boasts 27 career wins and has earned more than $140,000 in purses.
