Odyssey Killean converted a two-hole trip into a victory in the featured $900 Winners Over Pace Saturday at Northside Downs giving Edgar Jacobs a training triple on the 14-race card
.
With Jacobs in the driver’s seat, the nine-year-old altered son of Run The Table-Odessa Blue Chip left from Post 2 and was content to sit in the pocket while the favoured P H Mike (Myles Heffernan) shot off the gate from Post 3 and carved out panels of :28.1, :57.4 and 1:27.3. Odyssey Killean waited patiently until the stretch before making his move and reaching up to snatch the win by nose in 1:57.3. Hali Sylberun (Max Sehl) rounded out the top three.
The win was Odyssey Killean’s fourth of the year in 30 starts giving him over $8,000 in earnings. Tommy Baker of Black Rock and Steven Lewis of Millville, N.S. share ownership of the 30-time career winner, who has banked $152,753 to date.
Jacobs also won with Putnams Shark (2:07.2) in Race 3 and Shifty Shadow (1:58.4) in Race 11 giving him 14 wins on the year and 70 lifetime.
