Three-year-old trotting colts and geldings were the featured attraction at Harrah’s Hoosier Park Racing & Casino on Thursday, September 10 as one $59,500 division of Indiana Sires Stakes was featured on the evening’s 14-race card. Emma Town Bud turned in a decisive near gate-to-wire effort to win going away in 1:54 with driver Michael Oosting in the bike.

Leaving from post four, Oosting sent Emma Town Bud away from the gate for early position but yielded the lead to Swan In Motion and Ricky Macomber Jr. through the opening panel in :28.2. Emma Town Bud wanted his turn on the front and ranged up to take command just before the half in :58.2.

After mild first-half fractions, Emma Town Bud began to put his talent on display and was on top by four lengths through the third station in 1:27. Swan In Motion made a costly break turning for home and left Emma Town Bud in a race against the clock. Utilizing a :27 closing kick, Emma Town Bud finished five lengths to the good and stopped the timer in 1:54. Anchors Away and Sam Widger utilized a ground saving trip to get up for second while Dude Included and John DeLong trotted evenly for third. Sent off as the 3-5 betting favourite, Emma Town Bud returned $3.20 at the betting windows.

Trained by Byron Hooley and owned by Summit Pacing Acres LLC, Emma Town Bud now owns a 19-7-5-2 lifetime record. The son of Big Stick Lindy—Centerfold Lady has amassed $202,457 in lifetime purse earnings.

Indiana Sires Stakes action for the sophomore competitors will continue at Harrah’s Hoosier Park Racing & Casino on Friday, September 11. The evening’s 14-race card will feature two $32,000 divisions of Indiana Sires Stakes for three-year-old pacing fillies. The evening’s 14-race card will also feature a $10,000 Guaranteed Hoosier High-5 pool in the last race of the program.
