Vernon Downs' leading driver John MacDonald continued to dominate the weekend, winning seven races on Saturday, September 9.
His first four wins on Saturday were with Coopers Beach ($2.10), All Steinam ($2.90) Engagedatlexington ($4.80), and Shootin Tyme ($4.20). His last three victories were with Aloneinspades ($2.90), Fuzzylegsandall, and Arizona Captor ($5.60)
Golden Gun would won the $7,500 featured pace in 1:50.4 going wire to wire. Paying $32.60 to win, Golden Gun, who is owned by the The Wiz Kids Stable and trained by Misty Carey, survived a late rush by Dragon Fever to win for the fourth time this year and the 24th time in his career. Dragon Fever finished second with betting favourite Dreams Beachboy finishing third
